EMAIL TRACKING MODULE

WordPress Email Open Tracking That Actually Works

Stop guessing whether your emails land. LuperIQ's Email Tracking module records the first open, every click, and every recipient — so you can act on real engagement data, not assumptions.

You're Sending Emails Blind

Most WordPress sites send transactional emails, shipping notifications, and newsletters with zero visibility into what happens next. Did the customer open your order confirmation? Did your retail partner read your partnership announcement? Did anyone click the link in your newsletter?

Without answers, you make decisions based on hope instead of data. You resend messages that were already read. You chase customers who never opened their email. You have no idea which email types drive engagement and which ones fall flat.

LuperIQ's Email Tracking module gives you a clear picture. Every email your WordPress site sends gets a cryptographically secure tracking token. Opens are recorded via a lightweight tracking pixel, and link clicks are captured through redirect URLs — all stored directly in your WordPress database, visible in a clean analytics dashboard.

Everything You Need to Track Email Performance

Built directly into WordPress — no third-party ESP required.

First-Open Tracking

Know the moment a recipient first opens your email. Records a first-open timestamp with IP address and user agent.

Click Tracking with Redirect URLs

Every tracked link passes through a base64-encoded redirect URL. Click events are logged instantly, and recipients reach their destination with a 302 redirect — no delay.

Analytics Dashboard

Real-time stats for total sent, opens, and click rates. 24-hour and 7-day rolling metrics surface trends the moment they emerge.

Breakdowns by Email Type

Separate benchmarks for FedEx shipping, retail partner, newsletter, and custom emails. Compare categories side by side.

Detailed Reports

Filter by email type, paginate through 200 records per page, and sort by send timestamp, recipient, subject, open status, or click count.

Developer TrackingHelper API

generateToken(), createTrackingRecord(), prepareTrackedEmail(), and injectTracking() make custom email integration straightforward.

Tracking Without the Complexity

Before Email Tracking

  • Emails go out and you have no idea if they were opened.
  • Customers claim they never received messages you sent days ago.
  • You resend emails that were already read, frustrating recipients.
  • No way to know which email types drive clicks vs. which get ignored.
  • Decisions about email content are based on guesses, not data.

After Email Tracking

  • Every email has a first-open timestamp so you know if it was read.
  • Recipient, subject line, and email type are stored with every record.
  • Click counts tell you exactly which links drive action.
  • 24-hour and 7-day dashboards surface trends as they emerge.
  • Real data lets you cut what isn't working and double down on what is.

Who Uses Email Tracking and How

E-Commerce Order Confirmations

See exactly which customers opened their shipping notification and trigger follow-ups only for the ones who haven't.

FedEx Shipment Alerts

Categorize shipping emails separately from newsletters to benchmark transactional open rates and catch deliverability issues early.

Retail Partner Communications

Know whether your key messages — promotions, seasonal announcements, partnership updates — were actually read.

Newsletter Engagement

Measure open rates and click rates per issue. Sort by click count to find the subject lines that drive the most action.

Custom Automated Emails

Use TrackingHelper to add tracking to any custom email your WordPress site sends, with full dashboard and reports visibility.

Secure by Default

LuperIQ built Email Tracking with security practices baked in, not bolted on. Every AJAX action uses nonce verification. Admin pages check WordPress capabilities before rendering. All database queries use prepared statements. Output is HTML-escaped to prevent XSS.

Analytics events published to the Data Core pipeline use MD5-hashed recipient email addresses rather than raw addresses — aggregate analytics never expose personally identifiable information. The REST API endpoints for open and click tracking are intentionally public because tracking pixels must work for any email client, whether or not the recipient is logged in to your site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Email Tracking require a third-party email service provider?

No. The module works with whatever mail system your WordPress site already uses. It injects the tracking pixel and redirect links at the email preparation stage. As long as your emails send HTML, tracking works.

What email types does the module support?

The module includes built-in categories for FedEx shipping notifications, retail partner emails, and newsletters, plus a custom type for any other email your site sends. Analytics breakdowns are available for each category separately on the dashboard.

How are tracking tokens generated?

Each email gets a unique 64-character hexadecimal token generated using PHP's random_bytes function. This is cryptographically secure — tokens cannot be guessed or brute-forced.

Does the module track every open, or just the first?

The module records the first-open event with a timestamp, IP address, and user agent. This gives you a reliable indicator of whether the recipient opened the email. The detailed reports page shows first-open status and click data for each tracked email.

How does click tracking work?

Links in tracked emails are rewritten to pass through a redirect URL with a base64-encoded destination. When a recipient clicks, the module records the event and immediately redirects with a 302 response. Recipients land where they expected with no delay.
